The HTC One is in enormous danger of being entirely drowned out by the Samsung Galaxy S4, unless HTC is able to push its release date forward as far as possible…something that’s looking less likely by the day.
When the HTC One was first unveiled and its specs and features revealed for the first time, the world went pretty crazy for it and couldn’t wait to get its hands on it. Sadly, momentum behind the thing began to fade away in the run-up to the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event in New York City last week, and ever since then there’s only really been one top-tier Smartphone on the minds of the masses…and it ain’t an HTC Smartphone!
Nevertheless, the HTC One still has plenty of admirers out there sitting on their cash and dying to snap up an unlocked model, but the bad news this week is that they may be forced to hold their horses even longer than they thought. Again, we’re hearing numerous reports that the unlocked HTC One release date has been delayed due to insufficient numbers of Ultrapixel camera parts.
Technically this wouldn’t be the end of the world, but there are simply too many distractions around right now for HTC to get away with making anyone wait much longer for the official launch of the One. It’s an amazing Smartphone with epic specs and features, but the Samsung Galaxy S4 is pretty much destined to make mincemeat out if its rivals when it hits the shelves next month.
…especially is the S4 goes on sale for the unexpectedly cheap price we’ve been hearing of.
How it pans out remains to be seen, but if you cast your mind back to last year’s launch of the LG Nexus 4, you’ll probably remember that component shortage crippled supply of the thing until as late as last month…February 2013. We can therefore only hope and pray that HTC’s Ultrapixel problems with the One aren’t quite so severe, as by the time the thing finally arrives it may well have already become yesterday’s news.
You have to wonder just how smug Samsung execs are right now…
