Most of us haven’t yet had chance to even begin falling in love with the Sony Xperia Z, but this hasn’t stopped the tech giant apparently lining up its successor for an unexpectedly imminent release date. Yes, long before the dust has settled on the decidedly dust-proof Xperia Z, rumor has it that the Sony C670X is destined to claim flagship status for the brand in the very near future.
The news comes hot on the hells of reports that Sony is also gearing up to launch its own Smartphone running Mozilla’s Firefox OS – a busy few months ahead for Sony therefore to say the least.
Back with the Sony C670X however, there isn’t much to go on right now shy of a few whispers and a couple of supposed leaks…as per usual. The photos apparently depicting the C670X aren’t the most inspiring, though chances are the final unit won’t be quite as dull…we hope.
As far as specs and features go however there is indeed just cause for excitement as the Sony C670X seems to have all it takes on paper to hit the big time. Power we’re told will be delivered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor running at 1.8GHz, backed by 2GB or RAM and with a fully-expandable onboard closet of 32GB storage space. A 13-megapixel shooter will undoubtedly feature to the rear and unless the Sony C670X release date falls after the summer, it’s guaranteed to land with Android Jelly Bean.
It also looks like the C670X will boast a 4.8-inch full 1080p HD touchscreen.
All of the above certainly sounds promising, but the question remains as to whether the Sony C670X will launch with significant enough appeal to really steal the limelight from the Xperia Z and earn flagship status. It will undoubtedly become the most powerful Sony Smartphone out there, but as for justifying its place as a market-leader we’ll have to wait and see.
