There was never any real doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S4 was going to continue the legacy of the S3 in pretty impressive style. By reputation alone the Smartphone range is a guaranteed winner, which means that once the specs and features have been added into the deal it’s impossible for it not to run circles round its rivals.
However, at least one big name retailer in the UK has gone or record to put an actual figure the pre-launch success of the Galaxy S4, and as far as taking the torch from the S3 goes, its little brother won’t be a record-holder for much longer.
According to the Carphone Warehouse in the UK, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has chalked up preorders over four-times the size of those the Galaxy S3 accrued last year. And let’s not forget that that to date the Galaxy S3 was the single fastest selling Smartphone in the history of the Carphone Warehouse.
The S4 it seems is already hitting the record books in a big way.
“The record breaking launch of the Galaxy SIII last year was always going to be a tough one to beat,” according to Graham Stapleton of Carphone Warehouse. “But Samsung have pulled out all the stops with a dazzling new device that’s sure to inspire many people to make the switch to Android from other operating systems.”
The eventual release date for the S4 has been set as April 26th in the UK and most retailers and carriers are yet to reveal how much they plan to charge for the thing. Nevertheless, with a 446% increase in preorders compared to the S3, it seems that what it delivers on paper alone is more than enough to win over the devoted Android masses.
As far as actual figures go, the Samsung Galaxy S3 chalked up 10 million sales just two-months after launch and by the five-month mark had hit 30 million. If the S4 manages to hold onto its momentum and deliver all it promises therefore, we could be looking at the kind of figures most of us would have thought were pure fantasy.
