Ahead of what’s largely guaranteed to be the official Samsung Galaxy S4 release date announcement, a new image has made its way onto the web claiming to depict the fabled device in all its…erm, glory?
Usually when an image leak crawls out of the woodwork, those lucky enough to lay eyes on it find themselves salivating with excitement and praying to all that’s holy that it is indeed the genuine article. This time around however it’s not quite like this, as the new ‘leak’ showing-off the Samsung Galaxy S4 has divided critics and beady-eyed consumers right down the middle.
If authentic, the Galaxy S4 has taken a rather bold and unexpected move away from the sleek curves of the Samsung Galaxy S3, harking back to the sharper corners and angles of the Galaxy S2. True, some purists will say that you can’t improve on the S2’s perfection, but for the rest there is little less forgivable than taking a deliberate step backwards.
On the other hand however, there’s always the very (very) remote possibility that Samsung is making concerted efforts to distance the appearance of the Galaxy S4 from that of the iPhone, in order to forgo a repeat of the ugly courtroom battle recently fought between the two and summarily won by Apple.
Of course, all the leaked images in the world don’t give the slightest indication as to what specs and features we can expect under the hood, therefore it’s back to the trust rumor-mill to fill in the blanks. So far, we’ve concluded that the Galaxy S4 may or may not launch with an Exynos 5 octa-core processor, which is likely to be backed by 2GB of RAM and storage options up to 128GB. A full 1080p HD Super AMOLED is a given, as too is Android Jelly Bean at the helm.
The release date for the Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to be announced at the company’s press event on March 14th, along with its respective price tag.
