Here’s the most unsurprising surprise of the year so far – the Samsung Galaxy S3 is officially Smartphone of the year 2012. Having been presented with the Global Mobile Award at the 2013 Mobile World Congress this week, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has had its name etched in the history books as one of the most stunning, capable and timeless Smartphones ever created.
Gongs were also given to the Nokia Asha 305 as the year’s best entry-level Smartphone and the Google Nexus 7 and hands-down the best tablet PC of the year – again, not exactly surprising and very well-deserved on both accounts.
Cast your mind back a little further and chances are you’ll remember a certain Samsung Galaxy S2 scooping up dozens of awards as it went about its pretty rapid takeover or the world in 2011. As such, what all of the above adds up to is a situation where Samsung not only has a great deal to be proud of, but an immense amount to prove.
Or to put it another way, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has the weight of the world resting on its no-doubt sleek and slender shoulders.
Samsung has already confirmed a major press event for March 14th which is expected to herald the unveiling and release date announcement for the fabled Galaxy S4 Smartphone. The question therefore is that of what the Galaxy S4 can or must deliver in order to once again blow the world’s collective mind give the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 a run for their money.
Well, as far as specs and features go all is looking ship-shape so far. There’s a very strong chance of the Samsung Galaxy S4 packing the company’s Exynos 5 octa-core processor, which regardless of performance will lead to millions of sales due to bragging-rights alone. In addition, 2GB of RAM is expected as a minimum, storage options perhaps as high as 128GB, a possible curved-glass Super AMOLED HD touchscreen of 4.99-inches and monumental battery life.
