Good news – the Samsung Galaxy Note apparently isn’t going to be as super-sized as we once thought…or feared!
Everyone’s beginning to realize that while ‘bigger is better’ holds some truth in the Smartphone world, it has its limits. Enough critics have already cast aspersions on anything larger than 5-inches being too large to be considered a phone, at least where dignity when using the thing is concerned.
5.5-inches has proved to be largely forgivable, mostly for the reason that devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and HTC Butterfly etc. are just too damn cool to fairly poke holes in.
However, we’d reliably (sort of) informed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date was destined to up the ante in a rather sizeable way, delivering a Tabphone with a screen size of 6.3-inches. And of course, the very thought of using such a behemoth to take and make calls as an everyday Smartphone is cringe-worthy…6.3-inches is, frankly, too big.
As such, today’s news from the same Korean media sources comes as a welcome turnaround – the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will now apparently launch with a screen size of 5.9-inches. True, it’s not exactly a million miles from the 6.3-inches we’ve already decided is OTT, but taking it just a little bigger than the Note 2 will probably result in forgiveness from the masses.
A bigger screen for the Galaxy Note 3 is pretty much a given, primarily due to the fact that the mighty Samsung Galaxy S4 is also destined to feature a larger screen…most likely 4.99-inches, or so we’re told. As such, it’s probably a good idea for Samsung to maintain a distinguishable gap between the Galaxy S4 and the Note 3, otherwise folk would be presented with two near-identical handsets that for the most part only differ by name.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 release date is expected to be announced next week on March 14th, while the Note 3 is more likely to be held back for a Q3 launch.
