They may have binned-off the idea of launching a Windows RT Tablet this year, but you can bet your bank account on a new Samsung Windows Phone 8 Smartphone release date before 2013 peters out.
Hot on the heels of the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch that will no doubt go down in history as one of the most OTT, we’ve been given a sneaky look as what the South Korean company has in store for the months to come. What we’re looking at is a series of design patents which indirectly confirm that Samsung will be launching at least one Windows Phone device, along with various other Smartphones and 3d glasses.
Samsung is known to have recently been granted a patent for 3D Smartphone camera technology, which is expected to take over as standard for the company’s top-tier lines in the very near future.
One image depicts what is thought to be a Windows Phone 8 device, which was initially suspected to be a 7-inch tablet PC though has since been reclassified by beady observers as a Smartphone. This would seem to be backed by a couple of recent remarks from Samsung executives which by rights panned Windows 8 and Windows RT devices as on the fast-track to failure, not to put too fine a point on it.
Chances are the rest of the Smartphones will as usual arrive with Google’s Android OS and can be counted on as mid-range at best in terms of specs and features. Unless the company plans to spring a surprise on us all, it would be pretty unheard of to throw out another top-tier Smartphone while the Samsung Galaxy S4 is still lapping up the spotlight worldwide.
