It’s the usual time of year for lots of rumors to abound about potential product release dates over the next twelve months and this year is no exception.
One of the hardest rumors to find any real information about is the one regarding Nokia’s alleged Windows RT tablet. The basis of the whispers is that the company are putting a lot of time and energy into coming up with a worthy competitor for the Windows RT Surface tablet. Despite there being very little evidence to back up this claim, analysts and researchers are still quietly confident in telling us this new addition to the tablet market will be released in the early stages of next year.
There is one key element that is an integral part of the Windows Surface RT tablet and that is the (quite wonderful) keyboard cover that comes complete with an additional battery. The idea behind this clever little gismo is that when the tablet has run clean out of its own juice, the battery that comes complete with the keyboard cover can continue to run for the tablet for up to a further ten hours. It’s also pretty quick to recharge. For those amongst us who travel frequently and incur the dreaded ‘must save battery’ moments, this device is a godsend.
Not surprisingly then, it transpires (should the rumors be true) that a similar battery holding keyboard cover will be a big feature on Nokia’s Windows RT tablet. It is thought that it will cover the tablet in a book-like fashion and will also provide functionality for a stand and a user-friendly keyboard. Sounds pretty good so far.
The other whispers about the tablet’s specification include a screen over ten inches and the integrated USB ports that far too many tablets are lacking in. In keeping with this, the addition of HDMI ports is also rumored.
