It is often common to hear people complain about they cannot seem to keep up with technology and that as soon as they have purchased the most up-to-date [insert name of product] and gotten to grips with it, another version is released. It’s fair to say that if current rumors have any grounding in fact then, that for once this is fair enough…there are whispers of a new iPad. Already.
The source of these rumors is Macotakara, a Japanese blog that has been translated by the good old folks at 9to5Mac. The basic principle of the 5th generation model is that it takes its lead from design features of the iPad Mini – essentially being a thinner and lighter model.
There has been no word from Apple on these rumors, as expected. If we consider that the most recent iPad was only released in November of this year and Apple tend to favor March release dates, this could leave user of the 4th generation iPad with a device with a shelve life of a mere five months. If we compare this to the previous iPad releases, it doesn’t seem such a ridiculous notion; the gap between the third and fourth generation iPads was a mere eight months.
In terms of specification, the Japanese blog makes some rather ludicrous suggestions about the dimensions of the rumored 5th generation iPad. It is thought that whilst inputting the dimensions that represent the difference between the last iPad and the new one, the researcher omitted to add the word ‘difference’. It makes for comical reading at the very least.
There are other assumptions made about the rumored 5th generation model, including that it will get its style tips from the iPad Mini with the sleeker color elements. This would seem to make sense as the iPad Mini did exactly the same from the iPhone.
