One thing the Motorola X Phone (Nexus X?) really doesn’t need right now is the eyes and the ears of the world firmly focused on Thursday’s Samsung Galaxy S4 release date event. No…what it needs instead is a means by which the X Phone can once again capture the imagination of the public, perhaps with a carefully and most likely deliberately leaked list of specs and features.
And low and behold, a list of specs and features is exactly what just so happens to have slipped the net at such a perfectly opportune time for Motorola.
Just in case you hadn’t heard, the Motorola X Phone is heavily rumored to be the very first top-tier Smartphone to emerge from the company since it was officially taken over by Google last year. As such, there is massive speculation as to whether the X Phone may be a joint effort between the two companies and thus launch as the Motorola Nexus X.
There’s also talk of the X Phone launching as the Google Nexus 5 – the follow-up to the massively successful LG Nexus 4, but let’s not get too bogged down with names. After all, specs and features are what it’s all about…right?
Previous stirrings drew conclusions that the Motorola X Phone would be a 5-inch screen-toting beast, sporting a stunning Kevlar body and premiering Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie following the launch of the new OS this coming May. And as far as the new round of leaks goes, we’re told we can expect not only an Nvidia Tegra 4i processor delivering the grunt, but also a 16-megapixel rear-mounted camera.
This would certainly seem to tie in with previous comments from Motorola executives that the company was working on ‘insanely’ good cameras for upcoming Smartphones, which could indeed see the X Phone get a serious one-up on the competition.
And assuming the Nexus X follows suit with previous Nexus Smartphones and launches for a bargain off-contract price, we could be looking at the Smartphone bargain of the year…hands-down.
