One of the things we have to salute the web for is never allowing us to get bored when it comes to mobile tech rumors and hearsay. It’s hard to even imagine the days when we had to wait for official product announcements before we found out the details – these days we seem to know what’s coming next before the big brands do!
Such is the abundance of these apparent leaks that over the course of time, there are certain names that have become rather notable when it comes to getting it right. Top of the table often comes the mysterious soul behind @evleaks, who is barely out of the headlines for a day or two without returning with something juicy.
As far as today’s entry from @evleaks goes, what we’re seeing is a supposedly leaked image depicting a new LG Smartphone that’s yet to be announced by the firm. No name is put to the phone in question, but the leak comes right around the time we’re hearing dozens of reports that LG and Google are back in bed for the new-generation Nexus Smartphone.
The incredible success of the LG Nexus 4 has long made this highly plausible – could it be therefore that this is indeed the LG Nexus 5?
Perhaps, but on the other hand it could be a prototype for the successor to the LG Optimus G, which has already been confirmed as in the pipeline though hasn’t been given an official handle yet. We’re pretty sure the new flagship for the brand will be called the LG Optimus G2 and will arrive in the fall, but as for the Nexus 5 it’s still very hush-hush.
If the image turns out to be authentic, whatever it is we’re looking at will sport a screen size of around the 5-inch mark and a design that almost entirely cuts the bezels out of the equation. There are no physical button to be seen anywhere on the thing and the speaker grille on the front is rather different than what we’ve seen from LG to date.
To be frank, in many respects it looks strikingly similar to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the S3, but then again there are only so many things you can do with a rectangle.
All parties are keeping quiet on the details, so feel free to read into the image or otherwise at your own discretion.
