So we’re already pondering when the iPhone 6 release date will happen and whether the iWatch will indeed happen at all – and then there’s the ever-looming Apple TV set and Lord only knows how many more iPads on the horizon
But let’s face it – until the world is filled with iPants and iToilets as standard, we’re never going to be satisfied with the number of iWhatevers on the horizon
Good news this week therefore, as The Verge has come forth with a new report suggesting that iRadio could become a reality and that Apple is doing its level best to make sute a summer release date happens
Here’s the part of the report that got us all excited:
“Multiple music industry insiders have told The Verge that significant progress has been made in the talks with two of the top labels: Universal and Warner. One of the sources said “iRadio is coming. There’s no doubt about it anymore.” Apple is pushing hard for a summertime launch.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about iRadio as Apple has apparently had the likes of Spotify and Pandora in its crosshairs for quite a while. However, this is one of the first reports that’s not entirely vague about the concept and has to some extent pinned down a feasible release date.
The news follows related reports from earlier this month from the New York Times, which discussed Apple’s apparent incredibly low royalties paid on streamed music in comparison with Pandora and others.
Should the above hold water and Apple be indeed pushing for a mid-2013 launch of iRadio, chances are it will play a huge role in iOS 7 and thus the launch of the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPad 5 and/or iPad Mini 2 – whichever of the devices appears first.
And given the fact that Apple is under more pressure than ever before to come out with something that demonstrates true innovation instead of playing catch-up, iRadio could to some extent at least restore some much needed faith.
