Two months have passed since the iPhone 5 release date and tens of thousands of would-be buyers are still waiting for official word on the unlocked iPhone 5 via the Apple Store online. However, Apple may already have bigger plans in mind for the coming months as reports are beginning to circulate about a possible iPhone 5S release date arriving in plenty of time to infuriate buyers of the iPhone 5.
According to a growing string of rumors from across the mobile tech industry, the iPhone 5S is indeed a reality and is set to be released in a preliminary wave during the early stages of December. The stirrings are for the most part based on the translation of story posted in Taiwan, which suggested that Apple has already moved efforts away from building iPhone 5 inventory to concentrate on the first batch of iPhone 5S units.
The news will of course be met with many a “Give me a break!” responses, but to call the idea anything close to far-fetched would be foolhardy. Apple’s traditional product refresh cycles have been all over the place over the last couple of years and the iPhone 4S none saw coming pretty much confirms that we’ve little to no way of predicting what’s next.
And for those adamant that the iPhone 5S would be a pointless minor tweak that does little other than annoy standard iPhone 5 owners, remember – exactly the same was said about the iPhone 4S which went on to shatter every existing Apple record.
Apple would however be taking a quite enormous gamble by announcing an iPhone 5S release date in the near future, as one of the primary drivers behind massive early sales of iOS devices has always been knowing that there won’t be anything better in the shelves for a year or so. If Apple continues is bizarrely timed updates and refreshes, chances are millions will no longer have any faith in their devices remaining current for the next year and thus may lose the confidence to invest without second thought.
