Here’s another entry to the iPhone 5S specs and features wish list – rumor has it that the next-generation Smartphone will launch with its own stylus.
According to the Sun newspaper over the pond in the UK, one of the biggest changes coming to the iPhone 5S this year will be the inclusion of a tailor-made stylus. A big change for Apple perhaps, but given the fact that various Samsung Galaxy devices already ship with an S-Pen stylus as standard, you’ve got to wonder whether the Apple’s South Korean rival will be fuming at the news, or by contrast rather smug.
It has also been rumored over recent weeks that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 would likewise ship with Samsung’s S-Pen stylus, though this has yet to be backed by any official source. The popularity of stylus-compatible devices has gone through the roof lately, therefore it is a very real possibility that both the S4 and the iPhone 5S will feature such an accessory.
In any case, you can’t claim ownership to the stylus concept as a whole and therefore if the inclusion of a stylus with the iPhone 5S does warrant yet another ugly courtroom battle, chances are it will be about as pointless as the last handful.
One rather interesting point to note however is the fact that if the iPhone 5S is indeed destined to ship complete with its own stylus, you have to wonder whether or not this somewhat confirms a larger screen. The current 4-inches of the iPhone 5’s screen really don’t give a great deal of scope in terms of how useful a stylus could be, so could this mean that we are indeed in for the 5-inch iPhone 5S rumored for so long?
Perhaps, but this would mean that the tens of millions of people all over the world rooting for an affordable iPhone 5S this year might want to look elsewhere – a 5-inch iPhone 5S would redefine what it is to be anything but affordable.
