Whichever way you look at it, the iPad 5 has a hell of a lot riding on its shoulders. Not only does Apple’s fifth-generation tablet for the very first time have to beat out a world of Android rivals that already have the edge in terms of specs and features, but it also has to prove that it’s good enough to serve as a genuine alternative to the iPad Mini 2.
Well, the answers might not be too far away as both are expected to share the same release date as early as next month, but in the meantime we’ve been gifted with a few more leaks to chew over.
Originally posted by Nowhereelse.fr, the latest leaked images show what appears to be the front panel of the iPad 5 which as far as we can see tallies up with the majority of rumors and leaks to have emerged so far. Adopting something of an “If you can’t beat them, join them!” approach, the iPad 5 appears to have followed in the footsteps of the iPad Mini in terms of its general design.
The bezels around the edge of the screen are considerably smaller than those of the current iPad, which could allow for a smaller, sleeker and overall lighter form factor.
Japanese tech site Mac Otakara has also thrown its name into the arena by putting actual specifics to the dimensions of the iPad 5, stating that it will measure in 4mm shorter in length, 17mm narrower and a modest 2mm thinner than the iPad 4.
Under the hood however it’s a different story and there don’t seem to be many sources out there willing to divulge what Apple may or may not equip the iPad 5 with. A faster processor and better screen are both givens, but in all honesty it will take a hell of a lot more than this for Apple’s latest iPad to hold onto its crown in the face of such competition.
