Speculation is growing by the day that the iPad 5 will hit the market later this year with a form factor that more closely resembles the iPad Mini than any full-size iPad we’ve seen before. And what’s more, the ongoing chatter as to potential specs and features has just been joined by a series of new images, which have allegedly leaked out of the woodwork and grant the world its first glimpse at what the iPad 5 will look like.
…and it really does look like something of an iPad Mini Maxi!
According to those responsible for the latest sneak-peeks, the iPad 5 release date has already been set in stone for sometime this fall. What’s more, it may come to be just one of a series of device launches for 2013, with reports now hinting that we may be in for at least two new iPhone release dates before the year is out and a revamp to the Apple TV product lineup.
Back with the iPad 5 however, the images came courtesy of 9to5Mac and apparently emerged from deep within the Chinese assembly chain. The pictures apparently show the back-plate destined for a prototype version of the iPad 5, which is held alongside an iPad Mini back-plate which of course looks strikingly similar.
There is also a clear cut for an antenna toward the top of the plate, confirming that 4G LTE connectivity would be present – though this is of course pretty much a given.
That’s as far as the image goes in terms of helping us out with specs and feature speculation, but in the meantime we’re also being told to brace ourselves collectively for at least one more iPad arriving in the meantime – perhaps as early as March. This could prove to be the iPad Mini 2 release date with the full Retina panel we’ve been hoping for, or maybe a slightly beefed-up iPad 4S carrying who-knows-what as a bargaining chip?
An exciting year ahead for iAddicts the world over!
