Could the iPad 5 release date prompt a much-needed turnaround for Apple?
We’ve heard a lot of chatter recently Apple’s iPad sales not exactly faring too well as of late, with the iPad Mini in particular now know to be cannibalizing the living daylights out of the full-size iPad. However, we all know how a single and well-time release date can transform the fortunes of any product line and indeed any company, which is why all eyes are now once again on the iPad 5 and its rumored specs and features.
Short at time may be, reports are once again coming to light with the suggestion that Apple could have earmarked the launch of the iPad 5 for later this very month, which would in turn suggest that the obligatory press event would have to be confirmed in the next we or so.
Perhaps more realistically however, others are adamant that the iPad 5 will in fact hit the market later this summer – namely June.
We’ve heard plenty of wish-lists with regard to specs and features, but perhaps most compelling of all is the idea that the iPad 5 will for all intents and purposes look more like a stretched-out iPad Mini than the standard iPad we’ve come to know. And over the course of the weekend, a swathe of unofficial iPad 5 cases have appeared on various online retail sites, which would seem to confirm not only its new form factor, but also its very much imminent arrival.
Major industry analysts quite some time ago reached the consensus that the iPad 5 would boast a largely bezel-less design to promote a smaller overall form factor, along with Sharp IGZO screen technology to both reduce weight and boost battery life. However, poor yields of said screen technology is apparently the only thing standing on the way of the iPad 5’s release date, therefore it remains to be seen if and when any such holdups have been addressed and remedied.
