Invites have officially landed for HTC’s big media event scheduled to take place in London on February 19th – the event expected to see the HTC M7 release date set in stone. After months of speculation as to the specs, features and new-generation goodies HTC has in store for the world, the Taiwanese company is preparing to unveil something very big indeed.
So bid in fact that CNET UK is now reporting that a second event will be taking place at that same time in New York City.
While the invitations themselves don’t offer any real clues as to what can be expected at the event, there’s little question it will mark the grand debut of the HTC M7. It had widely been accepted as a given that the M7 would follow in the footsteps of the HTC One X by launching at this year’s Mobile World Congress – HTC it would appear has no intention of sharing the M7’s limelight with the rest of the rabble.
With regard to specifications and features, an ongoing flurry of leaked images and reports have stated in relative certainty that the HTC M7 will come with a 5-inch 1080p HD display, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, at least 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera to the rear. As for form-factor, the M7 will in all likelihood bear a striking resemblance to the hugely popular HTC One X – albeit with a few key 2013 refinements.
Shunning events like the 2013 Mobile World Congress can prove to be incredibly effective and indeed brave moves for Smartphone makers, as a means by which to garner the attention of the world with few to no outside distractions. This is the precise business model adopted by Samsung, Apple, Google and other market-leaders, who for the most part seem to be stepping away from such organized events.
Should the February 18th event indeed earmark the arrival of the HTC M7, expect a full commercial release date in early March – which also happens to be Samsung Galaxy S4 season.
