It looks like the HTC One is to welcome a series of new Windows Phone 8 siblings before the end of the year.
Whichever way you look at it, 2012 wasn’t exactly HTC’s crowning glory, in fact, there were several instances when the Taiwanese brand was positioned right next to then-failing RIM as suffering one of the most disastrous runs of any major brand in the consumer tech world.
However, HTC One aka HTC M7 release date hype seemed to generate renewed interest in the company from a consumer and investor point of view, which has of course led to the recent unveiling of the brand’s new flagship Android handset. And it appears HTC has no intention of letting momentum slip for a moment, as company executives have just confirmed that additional Windows Phone 8 Smartphone release dates are waiting in the wings for the remainder of 2013.
Considering the relatively bumpy start Windows Phone 8 has so far gotten off to, HTC clearly has confidence in the OS the rest of us are struggling to garner.
Along with confirming that new HTC Windows Phone 8 devices would be coming this year, the company also suggested that the new range will echo the design and makeup of the new HTC One – stating that the Windows Phone 8 branch will follow a “family” approach.
It remains to be see exactly how much of HTC’s focus is directed toward Windows Phone 8 as realistically there are two schools of thought to bear in mind.
On one hand, the HTC One has only just been unveiled and represents perhaps the company’s strongest opportunity yet to hit the top-end of the powerful Android Smartphone marketplace and capitalize on unparalleled global demand.
On the other hand however, concentrating on Windows Phone 8 could easily see HTC become the flagship brand of the OS and dominate in a way that would be 100% impossible in Android world.
