Ah, the joys of waiting for a new tablet to become available again……
As is becoming more and more common these days (clever marketing ploy perhaps?), as soon as a decent device comes onto the market it more or less completely sells out within hours (days at best). What then remains is the frustrating wait for devices to come back into stock, or days trawling the web for rumors as to which stores will take stock when.
This has been pretty much the case for Google’s Nexus 10. When considering the specification, it isn’t surprising. The Nexus 10 boasts a dual core 1.7 GHz CPU packing 2GB of RAM. It has a crystal clear display, packing marginally more ppi than the (much more expensive) Apple iPad 3rd and 4th generation. Two mighty cameras at front and rear and the Android running platform (and therefore priority upgrades) all add up to a pretty smart piece of kit.
That’s if you can get hold of one. Christmas presents of the Nexus 10 were unlikely. The Google Play Store completely sold out of the device rapidly and new stock is still yet to arrive. Eagle-eyed net watchers soon spied that the device was available from Staples online, however in the same fashion this was short-lived – it didn’t take long for the ‘sold out’ sign to appear and disappointment to set in once again.
More hopefully (and more recently), the device became available at actual Walmart branches and then appeared on Walmart’s online store. The sought after 32 GB model was listed as available to be delivered or collected in store. Deliveries wouldn’t have arrived before the 27th December so the all-important Christmas Day will have been missed, however at least the lucky recipient will have finally managed to get their hands on one.
