Most of the time when Xbox 720 specs and features leak their way out of the woodwork, the reaction is one of complete and total hysteria as release date hype mounts. However, this time around we’ve been treated to another lavish serving of rumors and in all honesty, the news isn’t all as good as we’d hoped.
Coming courtesy of VGLeaks once again – probably the biggest and best Xbox 720 blabbermouth on the planet today – the next-generation console will indeed function only in conjunction with a permanently on internet connection and the at-present optional Kinect controller.
What’s more, we’re hearing further confirmation that all games will be loaded onto the system and played direct form the hard drive, while the general controls and interaction with the Xbox 720 have been simplified to deliver a better experience to non-seasoned gamers.
Not that all of the above will really mean a lot to the newcomer, but there will undoubtedly by millions of potential buyers that aren’t exactly won over with any of the latest leaks. That being said, Microsoft is yet to confirm any of the specs and features, or even the existence of the Xbox720 in an official capacity.
In any case, the console wars for 2013 are certainly hotting up and it’s looking like both the Sony PlayStation 4 and the Xbox 720 will be in for a serious fight when their respective release dares roll around later this year.
