RIM-devotees the world over were quivering with excitement last week as what appeared to be the first official shots of the BlackBerry 10 L-Series – aka the BlackBerry Z10 – apparently leaked in the form of official promotional documents. Well, we’ve now been given all the more reason to assume the images were authentic and right on the money, as the Carphone Warehouse has now jumped on the bandwagon with further wonderfully clear leaks of the BlackBerry Z10…this time in the retailer’s inventory.
This close to the device’s release date, there’s little more effective way of generating hype then letting a few “accidental” leaks make their way to the market, after all.
Along with confirming that the new BlackBerry 10 Smartphones are to look nothing like BlackBerrys of old and are right up there in terms of aesthetics, the latest leaks also reveal that there will be white and black variants on offer. Bearing many similarities to the iPhone – courtrooms at the ready – the BlackBerry Z10 / L-Series also sports a removable back plate for access to the SIM slot and replaceable battery. Another one-up the BB10 has on the iPhone is the inclusion of a microSD card slot, allowing users to bump-up storage space significantly without having to spend a fortune.
Other than what we’ve so far figured out for ourselves and the promise of 70,000 apps by the time the January 30th release date rolls around, the BlackBerry 10 project is still shrouded in both secrecy and to some extent critical concern. Recent weeks have seen an astonishing number of ups and downs in terms of investor confidence and general company stock/share performance, highlighting the fact that BlackBerry 10 release is the cornerstone that will determine the future success and stability or outright failure of RIM as a whole.
