2013’s Smartphone battle of the year could be a direct face-off between Samsung and HTC, as rumors grow surrounding the release dates of the HTC M7 and the already-legendary Samsung Galaxy S4.
Apple will of course most likely follow its one-horse-race strategy with the iPhone 6 later in the year.
According to recent reports from Taiwanese sources, the HTC M7 may be headed for a distinct advantage over the Samsung Galaxy S4 by way of being the first to hit the shelves. HTC has been reportedly working on a successor to the One X for some time and the new torchbearer for the company has just been given the none-official moniker of the M7.
The most exciting news of all however is that HTC could be lining up a release date for the M7 as early as next March.
Should this be the case, chances are the HTC M7 will feature prominently at the 2013 Mobile World Congress in February, when is specs, features and official launch date will be confirmed. This would follow suit from this year’s MWC when HTC used the event to showcase the new HTC One X, One V and One S.
With regard to actual specs and features under the hood, details and even rumors are still quite thin on the ground, though all 2013 standards are expected to be covered including a 5-inch screen of biblical quality, a hugely powerful quad-core processor, at least 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and a sleek aluminum casing.
All of the above paints a largely similar picture to the specs and feature we’re expecting the Samsung Galaxy S4 to carry, but word on the street is that the South-Korean combatant might be holding off until the launch of Android 5.0 Jelly Bean – rumored to be arriving next May.
