So the new BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo has been (sort of) unveiled in advance of its planned official debut. The new beast from the German giant was originally due to make its official debut in March at the show in Geneva but it seems that somebody was a little impatient and supplied motoring fans everywhere with a pretty comprehensive leaked pic.
Although we don’t have the full and complete specification, we have enough to know what we’ll be getting. The main bits that we’ve noticed, and appreciated are related primarily to space, although we’re rather partial to the changes to the headlights and the rather flashy automatic rear spoiler. The addition of blades (air intake vents) on round the wheels isn’t too much to our liking although manufacturers do claim they lessen air resistance and therefore increase performance.
So the new Gran Tusrismo is essentially bigger than the original. It’s over four inches bigger in length and there’s an additional three inches headroom. Although these numbers seem paltry, they do actually make for some really noticeable changes for those long road trips in the back of the car. In fact there’s more room in there than you’ll find in the 5-Series which let’s face it, came as a surprise to us. There’s also lots and lots of LED lights in both the back and the front so fortunately everyone can see what they are doing in all that space.
As mentioned earlier, there’s a rather flashy automatic spoiler which pops up when speed starts to hit the seventy miles per hour mark and we really like this touch. It sort of makes up for the air ‘blades’.
In terms of prices, frankly we have no idea but you could probably make an educated guess based on the prices of the standard 3-Series BMWs.
