Rumor has it that the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 will share the same release date on the Verizon Wireless network when launch day finally arrives in the US.
Throughout the UK and Canada, the BlackBerry Z10 has already made its grand debut and found its way into an unknown though decidedly lofty number of critical hands. The Z10 has been stripped bare, thrown under the microscope and summarily reassembled a million and one times, resulting in its specs, features and its new BlackBerry 10 OS being generally applauded from all sides.
In the meantime ever, folks in the US are having to make do with either reading articles like this, or handing over a cool $1,000 or so for an unlocked BlackBerry Z10 – our own release dates are still the stuff of legend and fable.
All we know for sure is that the BlackBerry Z10 has apparently been lined up for an April release, but there is at least one shred of good news that could make the wait all the more worthwhile.
…there’s a pretty good chance the BB Z10 might not be coming to the party alone.
Various new reports have this week made the bold, if rather sensible suggestion that both the BlackBerry Z10 and the QWERTY keyboard-toting Q10 could share the same release date in April. Where exactly the rumors originate from is unimportant, as rationally speaking it would make absolute perfect sense for all involved.
Firstly, BlackBerry needs to once again make a splash when the US release date comes about, which is something that might prove tricky with the same device that will have to some extent become old news by then…at least in the US and Canada.
Next, the fact that the BlackBerry Q10 has become a rather elusive beast has triggered extreme desirability and demand – demand that could easily be capitalized on by a US launch at the same time as or ahead of the rest of the world.
And finally, there is always the chance that the very reason the major carriers of the US are holding off on launching the BlackBerry Z10 is the fact that they themselves want to fire out both together o the same release date. After all, staggered product launches have their charm and can work, but unleashing a tag-team of leviathans at the same time could give the BB10 campaign the biggest kick in the pants imaginable.
