We know that RIM’s new BlackBerry Q10 is due to be unveiled in the near future and fans of the previous BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Curve are for the eventual release date waiting with baited breath.
Sadly however, if rumors are true they could be waiting longer than originally thought…or feared.
So far, the full size touchscreen model of the new BlackBerry, the BlackBerry Z10, has enjoyed a pretty successful release in Canada and UK and we had expected the Z10 to be shortly followed by the QWERTY keyboard model Q10 device. Unfortunately, RIM executives have allegedly stated (if rumours circulated by Associated Press are true) that the Q10 device will follow the Z10 device by roughly 2 months.
Realistically therefore, it seems that given the fact that the US release date for the Z10 is still unknown and expected as late as April, chances are we won’t be able to get our paws on the Q10 until early summer at the very least.
We already know from prior reports that American carrier T-Mobile was planning to have the Z10 is stock to sell on their plans from around the end of March. However this is the only carrier that we have heard anything of the sort from so far. The other giants, those being AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, have been keeping mum about it all.
So what’s so special about the BlackBerry Q10?
Well for fans of the Bold series, it is essentially the new Bold 9900 although let it be said that there is little resemblance between the sibling. Apart from a huge increase in storage space (16GB), RAM (2GB) and processor speed (2GHz), the Q10 boasts a Super AMOLED screen with the QNX model having even better resolution due to use of True Black in some elements of the interface.
The actual device itself is made to feel very up-market with the inclusion of a stainless steel surround that makes it feel very solid indeed. We can see why folks are so desperate to get their hands on the new BlackBerry Q10 – the question is would a summer release date be both acceptable and worth waiting for?
