Apple has delighted the masses by today confirming that it will indeed be taking part in this year’s Black Friday Sales extravaganza. In typical style however their presence will be suitably subtle and brief, as unlike most national giants the Apple Black Friday Sale will be happening on Black Friday and Black Friday only – as opposed to starting Thanksgiving Eve and continuing for several weeks
“This Friday, there’s something for everyone. Including you,” said Apple’s delightful teaser emailed out today. “Prepare your gift list: The one-day Apple shopping event is this Friday, November 23.”
Exactly what the Apple Black Friday bonanza is to include will be revealed by the Cupertino company at the stroke of midnight tonight – all discounts are to be made available for online and in-person purchases alike.
Apple has suggested that the best way to keep ahead of the game with the sales is to download their Apple Store App and bag a bargain from their iPhone or iPad.
Sadly, while mild hysteria is to be expected and there will indeed by thousands of optimists expecting to take home an iPhone for pennies, history has taught us that Apple never quite loses its mind over Black Friday like other retailers. Over the past two year there have indeed been some decent Black Friday discounts from Apple, but nothing to really write home about.
For example, Apple’s iMac range was discounted by $101 last year, as was the MacBook Pro and the iMac – all of which are expected to be graced with the same reductions this year. 16GB iPad 2s were on offer with $41 reductions, while the 32GB and 64GB models came down $51 and $61 respectively.
….what’s with the $1 over a round figure?
The iPod Touch range was discounted by $21, $31 and $41 for the 8GB, 32GB and 64GB versions respectively, while several accessories and docking stations also fell modestly in price.
As for Black Friday iPhone and iPad Mini discounts however, probably best not to hold out hope this year at least.
