Toyota has treated attendees of the Geneva Motor Show to a sneak peak at an all-new concept version of the 2014 Rav4, which appears to have dressed itself from someone else’s wardrobe. Furthering the company’s efforts to once again win back the crossover SUV market it for the most part created with the original Rav4, the new concept version is an undeniable head-turner.
Whether on the market for something with a luxury feel or a down n’ dirty off-roader, Toyota is well and truly on a mission to satisfy with the 2014 Rav4 – there are two new versions on show.
As far as the Rav4 Adventure goes, we’re looking at a not-so standard Rav4 that’s been given a rugged and tough makeover both inside and out. Huge 20inch alloy wheels, four exhaust pipes, giant wheel arches, off-road tires, new bumpers and a striking red paint job deliver the impression of a Rav4 that means business…which apparently it does.
And in the case of the Rav4 Premium – i.e. the luxury version – this is something of a refined Rav4 presented in what Toyota has dubbed “Deep Bronze” and featuring decidedly less aggressive looking bumpers and wheel arches, though superbly elegant 20-inch alloys and chrome trim all over the place. There’s also plenty of luxury to be found on the inside by way of sumptuous leather seats in a two-tone color scheme and further leather trim on the dashboard.
So, what can you expect to pay for either of the above?
It’s anyone’s guess as right no we’ve no clue as to whether the 2014 Rav4 Adventure or Premium will in fact be put into production by Toyota. That being said, if appealing to every end of the market the automaker once owned really is the intention, chances are we’ll see both and not too far in the future.
