The 2014 Range Rover Evoque was always going to make quite a name for itself and has done so in spectacular style – say hello to the world’s first production car boast a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Land Rover’s exclusive new system known as ZF 9HP is a frankly beyond cutting-edge refinement added to the 2014 Evoque which will assist the vehicle in delivering stunning performance balanced with better fuel-economy and reduced overall CO2 emissions.
Speaking after the unveiling of the new 2014 Range Rover Evoque, John Edwards of Land Rover expressed his pride in the technology saying: “We are extremely excited about the 9HP which has been tailored exactly to dovetail with the unique attributes of our vehicles,”
It will add another layer of performance, refinement and efficiency, further enhancing Land Rover’s world class abilities.”
Each of the nine gears the new ZF 9HP is of relatively small ration and has been designed to achieve maximum performance, response and efficiency across the board. While the lowest gear of the 2014 Range Rover Evoque is even lower than the current version and therefore able to further its off-road performance, the ninth gear has an altogether higher ration in order to deliver super fuel economy when cruising.
The ZF 9HP also boast a new downshifting feature for enhanced acceleration.
While the 2014 Range Rover Evoque is at present the only vehicle in the world to be fitted with the nine-speed transmission, ZF 9HP is expected to be rolled out across Land Rover’s future ranges as standard.
