Right at this moment, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA is rolling out and making its way into various markets all over the world. And not to put too much pressure on the car – Mercedes has is pinning its hopes on the 2014 CLA as a worth auto to bring the brand back to market-leading status in the luxury bracket, which would of course mean ousting both BMW and Audi.
No small ask by any means.
Throughout April, the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA is hoping to make waves all over Europe and drive home the message that Mercedes has what it takes to reclaim the luxury auto crown from BMW – its rival having led the market for eight years. And if losing out to BMW wasn’t bad enough, Mercedes-Benz slipped to third-place in the rankings last year after being overtaken by Audio – now the second-place holder in the segment.
As such, the pressure on the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA coupe is huge as this is the vehicle that could by rights set in motion the kind of momentum Mercedes needs to head back to its former territory – or climb at least one step back up the ladder. In order to do so, the 2014 CLA will have to fend off the likes of the Audi A4 and the pretty unstoppable BMW 3-Series.
Rather than focusing on the existing Mercedes consumer base however, the German automaker is instead looking to win over a new crowd – those that haven’t yet purchased a car from the brand. And given the way in which the economy over in Europe is still hanging in the balance in many regions, chances are Mercedes has its crosshairs set squarely on the 30s to 40s market right here in the US.
The younger market is for the most part out of the question, as high-performance isn’t really the biggest sticking point for today’s younger motorists as it perhaps once was. Today, it’s all about bang for buck and making a statement.
We’ll have to see how well the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA delivers on all fronts in its campaign to outshine some of the biggest players in the auto industry today.
