The new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was very highly-anticipated as being one of the best new designs available in this part of the huge automobile market. It seems that the aesthetics of a new vehicle design are incredibly important to some purchasers; indeed for some this is the key element to consider when buying a new car.
However it seems (and rightly so) that this particular deciding factor is being somewhat overtaken by the fuel economy and performance of the vehicle. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee being case in point. Widely hailed as having a great new design to make the vehicle more aerodynamic, and yes, it does look good – there are a number of reviews about the new offering from Jeep that have been mixed at best.
Comparisons to the other market offerings against the Ecodiesel model, including the Porsche Cayenne and the Touareg from VW have shown that it may not necessarily be the leader in this class. One of the key reasons for the purchase of the 2014 Ecodiesel model in the first place would be in relation to fuel efficiency.
The V6 engine in the new Ecodiesel Jeep Grand Cherokee does provide a pretty impressive fuel economy when you compare it to the standard model. The regular aspirated V6 delivers seventeen miles to the gallon whilst running around and twenty-four miles to the gallon on highway trips. The new Ecodiesel beats this quite significantly by delivering twenty-one and twenty-eight miles to the gallon respectively. When the comparisons are made between the above Porsche and VW vehicles however, the new Ecodiesel Jeep Grand Cherokee isn’t really all that different.
One of the other leading features of the new Grand Cherokee is the air suspension. This feature makes the ride much more comfortable and quiet and is not even available for the VW.
