The 2013 Jaguar XJR sedan is to make its first official appearance at the New York Motor Show, though has now made its presence well and truly known with the company’s first officially released snapshot of the beast.
One of a series of additions to the company’s high-end “R” lineup, the big-daddy of the 2013 Jaguar XJ series boasts a stunning 550BHP powertrain, which although not fully laid bare by the automaker as of yet is in all likelihood the same 5-liter supercharged V8 engine as seen last November in the new XFR-S.
By looking at the sole image so far releases by Jaguar, the 2013 XJR can be seen to sport all the usual R-Series traits which include new bumpers and spoilers, a darker grille, vents in the hood, massive alloy wheels, side skirts and the coolest of cool red brake calipers. Interior upgrades have apparently been subtler, though add up to a significant difference.
The 2013 Jaguar XJR will debut at the New York Motor show where it will share the spotlight with a series of new siblings, including the XF sedan and the F-Types roadster.
“Jaguar is growing its product lineup to meet a far wider spectrum of customer demands ranging from sedans with 2.0 liter and 3.0 liter engines and All Wheel Drive to the exciting new F-TYPE sports car,” said, Jaguar Land Rover executive Andy Goss.
“It is clear that performance will continue to lie at the heart and soul of the brand. To that end, the growing R performance lineup offers our customers the truly elevated dynamics and design, but in a Jaguar luxury package. The Jaguar XJR is a British performance machine that delivers emotionally and dynamically on the road and on the track.”
